Following in his father’s footsteps Leigh started working in a Prosthetics laboratory at the age of 11 during his school holidays. Leigh comes from the old mould of technicians having served his full apprenticeship whilst studying weekly at Cardiff Institute of Technology, as it was called then.
He worked in prosthetics, ceramics and orthodontics over an 8 year period then joined the British Army as a dental technician. Having managed 3 multi-disciplined laboratories in Germany he became the senior technician for technical services to the armed forces Germany; before moving on to be the laboratory manager for technical services to the Defence Dental Services of the Armed Forces. A role he feels privileged to have achieved and only served by a few. Leigh has a great interest in continued education and learning from the best by attending courses and seminars and working alongside some great technicians.
Recently he has attended Candulor’s Swiss Denture Concept training, Merz TiF, Ivoclar training and Schottlander’s Better Dentures. He continues to keep up with new technologies and materials to the market in order to push the quality and results that can be achieved working as a multi-disciplined team of clinician – patient – technician.
Leigh believes in a boutique style, patient focused laboratory with every effort aimed to produce functional restorations that achieve the highest aesthetics to suit each individual. With nearly 30 years’ experience in the field of dental technology Leigh prides himself in providing the best of technical support and appreciates clinicians who demand the same. Artisan Dental Studio’s philosophy is not intended for every patient, however Leigh believes the choice and expectation for perfection should be available to all.
